Recruitment Process

Once you find a suitable job on our Job Search page, click on the job listing and follow the instructions to submit your application. This will involve uploading your CV/resume and filling out an online application form. There is also an option to apply with your LinkedIn profile.

Yes! “HiNext” is Hitachi’s branded version of Workday’s Applicant Tracking System. Workday is a well-known software vendor specializing in Human Capital Management (HCM).

Once your application is submitted successfully, you will receive a confirmation email and the application status shown in your profile will change from "Draft" to "In process.”

You will be asked to provide information about youself such as name, email address, phone number, home address, work experience, education, CV/resume, and any other supporting documents you wish to provide such as cover letter, certificates, portfolio, etc. The type and amount of information requested may be different from country to country. Our Talent Acquisition team looks for clear, concise resumes that highlight relevant experience, skills, and achievements. We assess how closely your experience and skills align with the job criteria.

After submitting your application, you will receive an immediate automated response confirming receipt via email. Our talent acquisition team works hard to move candidates through the recruitment process in a timely manner. Our goal is to provide you with feedback within 14 days. However, as we receive many applications for each job, it could take longer.

If your application is not successful, you may receive a notification via email or verbally depending on the country of the position you applied to. You will also be able to see the status of your application in your HiNext account. Please be patient with us and apply again for alternative opportunities.

To view the status of your application, please log into the account you created when you applied for the job, then navigate to the “Candidate Home.” In the “My Applications” section, you will find all the jobs you applied to at Hitachi Energy and their status. 

We love to receive referrals from our amazing employees so it’s important to make sure they are recognized for referring talented people like you to our team. The first question on your application will be 'How did you hear about us?' Select 'Hitachi Outreach', then 'Employee Referral'. Another field will appear asking for their name or email address. If you have their Hitachi Energy email address, please use that as we may have multiple employees with the same name.

During the hiring process, you can expect multiple stages including initial screenings and interviews. Each stage is designed to evaluate your skills and qualifications for the role to which you are applying. Depending on the role and location, there might be additional stages such as technical screens, assessments, and background checks. Background checks are performed by third-party service providers. Our talent acquisition team will guide and support you through the process.

If selected for an interview, you will receive an invitation from us, and we’ll work with you to schedule an optimal time to complete the interview. Our interview process typically includes an initial phone or video screen, followed by one or more in-depth interviews with team members and hiring managers. Depending on the role, we may also include technical assessments or case studies.

Have your CV/resume and any other necessary documents ready. Review the job description and practice answering common interview questions. Be ready to discuss your experience and how it relates to the role, as well as key results you were responsible for creating. Prepare questions for your interviewer(s) in advance, as this is also an opportunity for you to find out more about the role and our company directly from us.

To prepare for your phone or video interview, ensure your device is charged and you have a quiet, well-lit space with a reliable internet/service connection. Test your video and audio equipment beforehand.

To prepare for your in-person interview, ensure you understand the directions on how to get to the onsite location to make sure you can arrive comfortably and avoid stress. The dress code can vary depending on the role and department, but we advise ‘business casual’ in most cases.

If in doubt, our talent acquisition team will be happy to clarify and support. 

If you receive a job offer, the next steps will involve accepting the offer and onboarding. Depending on local employment laws, after signing your offer letter, you can expect to receive communication from the hiring manager or HR Operations team. This will outline the next steps in the process, and may include confirming your start date, completing onboarding paperwork, and providing details about any necessary pre-employment checks, such as background checks. Your talent acquisition partner will help guide you through the process.

We conduct thorough background checks where legally permissible. Given the diversity of regulations across different countries, as well as varying position needs, each country follows its own specific procedures. For any questions regarding the background check process, please consult with your talent acquisition partner or hiring team member for detailed information.

We do not request medical records, except where required by country law and/or for specific roles. Where required by country law or company policy, medical clearance and/or a clean drug test is obtained before employment can begin. We will pay for the associated costs to carry out these tests. For more details on what is required in your country to begin employment, please speak with your talent acquisition partner.  

Hitachi Energy does check references for employment, but the process can vary depending on the country. Generally, we obtain explicit permission from candidates before contacting references.

If you're unsure about something in your onboarding tasks, you can contact your HR representative or onboarding coordinator for assistance. They are there to help you with any questions or concerns you may have during the onboarding process. Additionally, you can reach out to your hiring manager for guidance.

Hitachi Energy may offer relocation assistance depending on business needs and the specific role. The support provided can vary based on the location and the requirements of the position.

In recent times, there has been a rise in fraudulent job offers targeting unsuspecting job seekers. These scams can be convincing and some do fall victim.

Common tactics that signal a fake job offer include:

1. Being “too good to be true” - such as offering high pay despite little to no experience related to the job
2. Creating urgency – such as compelling immediate action which could include paying a fee
3. Unprofessional communication – such as poorly written emails with grammar mistakes and unofficial looking domains
4. Unclear job description – lack of process and information, as well as avoiding face-to-face interviews
5. Seeking payments – asking for money in exchange for moving forward in the process or before the start date.

Hitachi Energy never asks for money in exchange for moving forward in the application process. If you think you have received a fake job offer from someone impersonating a representative of Hitachi Energy, please do not engage any further with the original sender. Keep the fraudulent messages for further investigations and please contact us on our general inquiry form.

From the home screen, go to Sign In and click “Forgot your password?”. Enter the email address you used when you applied on the career site to receive a reset link. After clicking “Reset Password,” check your inbox for instructions on how to reset your password. If you don’t see the password reset instructions in your inbox, be sure to check the junk and spam folders for the email.

This depends on your preference. In short, an unlocked profile means your CV/resume is in our talent pool and viewable by multiple talent acquisition partners at Hitachi Energy who may contact you with relevant opportunities. A locked profile is only visible to the talent acquisition partner handling the job you applied for.

You can change your profile status anytime:

1. Log in to your profile.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Scroll to Profile Status.
4. Choose one of the options:
   • Allow talent acquisition partners to access my profile for other matching jobs (unlocked).
   • Consider me only for the job(s) I applied for (locked).

There may be several reasons you are receiving an error while creating your profile. We recommend taking the following actions to resolve the errors:

1. First, delete cookies in your browser. Then, restart your browser and try again.
2. Try an alternative browser such as Chrome or Firefox.
3. Access the website in incognito mode.
4. Ensure you complete all required fields to continue your application.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you can send an inquiry to Hitachi Global Career Site Support for further assistance.

A maximum of 10 files can be uploaded with your application, and the size of each file should not exceed 1 MB. If you have not exceeded either of these limits, then try to upload the documents again using an alternative browser.

If files exceed the limits, upload the most important and relevant documents and forward the rest directly to the talent acquisition team once you have been contacted.
